Vimy Ridge Academy (VRA) is dedicated to building character, enhancing skills and strengthening pride in Canada. A small community school setting within an urban environment, we focus on Canadian Studies in combination with exceptional alternative programs. Students in Grades 7 through 12 choose program options within sports, dance, music, or outdoor pursuits. We also offer unique Sport Recreation classes that introduce students to a range of experiences designed to promote healthy lifestyles through active living and nutritional education. In addition, VRA offers Junior High Honours and Senior High Advanced Placement classes to assist students in achieving their post secondary aspirations.
Sports programming is offered through partnerships with The Hockey Program, the University of Alberta Green and Gold Soccer Academy, and the Edmonton School of Ballet. All sports students have access to additional special interest classes such as Sports Performance.
Through a partnership with Edmonton School of Ballet, the Dance program at VRA is one of the most highly regarded professional dance programs in Canada. Students in the Dance program complete a full academic program balanced with daily dance training which includes jazz, modern, ballet and dance theory.
Our Canadian Studies program is dedicated to promoting student leadership, citizenship and outdoor education experiences. High academic performance is balanced with alternative programming opportunities in music, drill and outdoor pursuits. Our pipe band is the only one of its kind in Canada. Students in the Canadian Studies Program also adhere to wearing formal program apparel on Thursdays.
Exceptional facilities and dedicated staff make our programs come to life. We have eight newly renovated dance studios, two gymnasiums, a fitness centre, four technology labs, SMART Board technology in every classroom, a competition-size climbing wall and convenient access to a wide range of local recreation facilities.
At VRA, all students in all programs are encouraged to excel both academically and athletically. We make it possible to turn passion into performance!
